Open admissions policy

Purdue's open admissions policy states that students must have a high school diploma, or an equivalent. After a student has met the minimum admissions requirements, he or she will need to provide proof of high school graduation and transcripts from high school. Next is the Common Application. The Common Application requires students to write a personal essay, answer questions specific for the college, and complete the Common Application.

Purdue does NOT offer early decision admissions or early action admissions. Students can still apply for certain programs early, however, like the Honors College which costs an additional USD 200.

Faculty buy-in

Many campus faculty members are confused by the move to the Purdue Online campus. Many aren't sure what the differences between Purdue Global or Purdue Online are. Drummond believes this is a transition period. Drummond believes that this transition will bring more faculty buy in and better instruction.

Online courses can only succeed if faculty buy-in. Purdue will need to continue its efforts in order to tap into the online education marketplace. Many institutions were reluctant to move to online learning. They are still trying to reach the prototypical student. A typical online student, for example, is someone who graduated at Oklahoma State University in 1998 and worked for ConocoPhillips over 20 years. He or she wants to learn new skills. This type of student will not be interested in a Purdue graduate's degree.
